What else am I missing?

It's amazing what you don't see when you don't look.
Every spring my LinkedIn feed gets filled with people sharing cherry blossom selfies from Japan.
I developed a love for cherry blossoms from my time living in Asia and, before that, in Washington DC (which was famously gifted blossoms by Japan).
What I never realised until recently that there was another stunning location for these beautiful trees - my own home town!
In fact, the blossoms here are so good they've been named the best in the UK.
All news to me! I spent my first two decades in this town, Swindon, but somehow escaped all awareness!
I visited the park this week and was amused that almost all the people taking photos looked Asian. The native Brits were mostly chatting, playing sport, or sunbathing.
There's a line in a Tom Waits song: "Never saw my home town till I stayed away too long". That about sums it up.
It's gotten me to thinking, what else have I not seen because I didn't look?
